Reengaging a Work from Home Team with Technology

by Tessa Vogel
March 8, 2022
Many companies are at a crossroads on whether to reevaluate their work-from-home policies or keep the course. An organization may disregard the challenges of remote work given the right tech.

At the face of uncertainty and a global pandemic, March of 2020 forced a massive transition on the working world. In fact, 58.6% of the US workforce today are considered remote workers (NorthOne). The challenge this presents to companies is what comes next?

While some organizations start to reevaluate their work-from-home policies, they’d be wise to consider employee satisfaction and retention first. The 74% of workers that say remote work opportunities make them less likely to leave a company is not a number easily ignored (Owl Labs).

Of course, remote work comes with its challenges (i.e., motivation and management) but thankfully technology progresses alongside problems it’s meant to solve. Read on about the basic technology all work-from-home teams should consider to reengage their efforts.

MS Teams

Something that a moderately new remote team can struggle with is communication. Business implications aside, 20% of remote workers report feelings of loneliness (Buffer). With culture and well-being listed as high priorities, this then is a high priority problem.

MS Teams keeps workers more connected than ever. Some make the mistake of only considering the platform for chat, video, and audio calls. Its capabilities go beyond that, including community building by creating teams and channels within the application.

Gamification

Gamification is the application of game-design elements and game principles in non-game contexts that can be applied to productive activities or the real world. Gamification techniques leverage the natural desire for socializing, learning, mastery, competition, achievement, and status.

Salelytics' gamification platform, Ambition, goes a step further and analyzes historical data, creates peer accountability, and visualizes team performance through a real-time dashboard.

Not only does the practice of gamification motivate teams, but also drives results. Across Salelytics’ three performer segments (top, middle, and low), Gamification was found to increase metrics outcomes by 18% to 26%.

Sales Enablement Tools

Sales enablement platforms provide the coaching and management components needed to motivate a work-from-home team.

For example, Salelytics offers two innovative speech recognition solutions. These custom technologies include real-time visual measurement of call progression, targeted training & coaching tools, and specific phrases to new associates that help their interactions go well. When a great employee onboarding experience can improve retention by 82%, it’s not a bad thing to have in your tech stack (Brandon Hall Group).

That’s just it isn’t it? The “Tech Stack.” Investing in quality versions of each technology can take time and money. A great alternative to seeking out these individual services is to partner with a company that has already built or developed its stack. Salelytics has been doing so for over 30 years!

An organization may disregard the challenges of the work-from-home environment by investing in the right partner or technology. Keep your remote team motivated, happy, and collaborating – and we’ll keep a pulse on the supporting landscape.
